Why can't I find a good federal doctor?

Federal doctors can be very hard to find because most people do not understand the federal workers compensation system. FedDoctor.com tries to help anyone that works for the government find a quality OWCP doctor in their nearby community.

FedDoctor is in the middle of an extensive series explaining the ins and outs of why it can be so difficult to locate a quality physician with experience dealing with federal workers comp claims. During the series, we will explore the many variables with regards to urgent care vs. primary care, causation, claim diagnosis, expansion of an OWCP claim, medical billing processes, and how all of that works against an inexperienced doctor trying to help you.

The process of working with the Department of Labor on a work injury case can be maddening. Learning more about ways to avoid frustration and headaches within the system can set up your case to be successful and return you to your regular life with as little pain as possible. This is the type of information that can be spread throughout the federal employee community with ease by sharing with your friends and co-workers. Do your friends a favor and tell them about how to find us!

Traumatic Injuries

Federal workers compensation claims require many forms to be completed in order to open a claim. The OWCP typically requires either a CA-1 or CA-2 to be filed along with your medical evidence.

A CA-1 is filed if you sustain a traumatic injury. A traumatic injury is one that has a sudden onset. A good example would be a slip and fall, or an automobile accident.

When ever you suffer one of these injuries, it is important that your federal doctor helps you document when and how the injury occurred. Filing the proper form and submitting good causation language from your doctor can help you get your claim off to a good start.

FedDoctor.com is here to help you find a local doctor that is familiar with the OWCP. The federal workers compensation system can be very confusing. Having a knowledgeable physician that knows how to help can make all the difference in a successful claim and recovery.

OWCP asks for more

The federal workers compensation system can be frustrating with the repeated requests for more medical information. FedDoctor.com is a website that is designed for you to find a doctor that is knowledgeable of how the OWCP works and willing to help you provide the specific type of documentation that they require.

When your claims examiner asks you to provide additional medical evidence, your physician needs to provide detailed narratives that include cause-of-injury language. The claims examiner is not a medical professional, so the more simple the report is to read, the easier your claims examiner may understand your case.

FedDoctor helps federal employees across the country find local medical professionals that have a special interest in the treatment of OWCP injury claims. It's free to use and can provide you with a list of doctors that can help you on your road to recovery.

Establishing a Treating Doctor for OWCP

If you have never been hurt on a federal job, establishing a treating physician might not seem important. But understanding the basic process before an injury can save you a lot of trouble later. We published a new article on FedDoctor.com to help federal employees everywhere understand how to navigate this sometimes tricky issue with their OWCP claims examiner.

This is simple, useful and sometimes claim-altering information that you can file away in your "just in case" bank. Hopefully you never need it! But over a long career with the government, the odds are good that one day it will come in handy. If it is helpful to one of your co-workers, share this with them.

Let's change the culture of the Federal Workers Compensation System! We want all federal employees to find the help they need and not be afraid of a work injury claim; focusing on recovery, not paperwork.
